What is the Austrian Midwives Association (ÖHG)?
The Austrian Midwives Association (Chamber of Austrian Midwives) is a public corporation and represents the professional interests of Austrian midwives. Every midwife who works in Austria is automatically a member of the Austrian Midwives Association. It is legally the chamber of Austrian midwives and the link between pregnant women, young mothers, public departments, authorities, institutions, companies and midwives. The Austrian Midwives Association has a regional office in all of the nine federal states.

ÖHG Compact – An overview in figures, facts and positions
The handy brochure ‘ÖHG Kompakt – An Overview in Figures, Facts and Positions’, published in August 2025, summarises the most important information, positions and facts about midwifery in Austria and the work of the ÖHG in a compact overview.
It serves to support the ÖHG’s work with its dialogue groups and also provides a practical overview for anyone interested in the work of the ÖHG.
